Video sea trials EAGLE-ACCESS system
The video demonstrates the successful sea trials of our EAGLE-ACCESS system at the Horns rev 2 offshore wind farm. The EAGLE, which was installed near the stern of the VOS Star PSV vessel proved to be an excellent combination. The 270 degrees operability ease the vessel operation with comfortable headings. We safely transferred around 150 people and did about 300 transfers with and without cargo. The experienced Offshore technicians felt safe and comfortable during all transfers. One reaction: “The EAGLE-ACCESS system has proven for me that it is the safest and best device to transfer people and cargo to the TP of a wind turbine”.
The operators were able to transfer both the cabin and the cargo safely and accurately from the vessel to the TP despite the limited landing area of the Horns Rev2 TP’s. The electrically driven EAGLE is extremely accurate and direct while being remotely operated.
We would like to thank all parties involved for their contribution to make this happen:
The Carbon Trust and Offshore Wind Accelerator (OWA) programme partners, Ørsted, Van Halteren Group, the Horns Rev.2 windfarm, Staalbouw Boom, Ministerie EZK – Topsector Energiesubsidie, Crew EAGLE-ACCESS, ELMA BV, Controllab, TSMH, VOS crew on the VOS Star, for the smooth and successful operation.
The EAGLE has completed many landings and as such is now ready for commercial operation.
